Adam Kajee
CA (SA), CFA

Founder AND CEO

Adam Kajee holds both Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst designations. After articles at PwC, his interest in investments led him to Coronation Fund Managers where he spent 2 years. Adam’s passion for private equity and actively growing businesses landed him the position of Executive Assistant/Investment Analyst to both Jannie and Piet Mouton at PSG Group “PSG”. The position was part of PSG’s mentoring programme and allowed Adam access to the engine room of PSG, whereby he attended Exco meetings. Adam was responsible for evaluating initial investment opportunities that came through PSG’s door allowing him exposure to a myriad of investment opportunities. He also formed part of the PSG Alpha team (Private Equity division) where alongside the PSG Alpha CEO, he spearheaded the industry research, due diligence and eventual transaction of PSG’s largest initial investment. An initial investment of R675 million for a 50% equity stake in the premium retirement lifestyle brand Evergreen Lifestyle. The transaction was concluded in September 2017 and Adam took the position of Chief Financial Officer of the Evergreen Group from October 2017. He was instrumental in the growth of the business which saw assets grow from R1.5bn to approximately R5bn in 3 years, but even more rewarding is the 14,000 job opportunities that were created over this period.

Adam has held many director positions and is currently a director of Dipeo Capital (Pty) Ltd, a BEE investment holding company which is 51%-owned by the Dipeo BEE Education Trust, of which all beneficiaries are black individuals. This Trust uses its share of value created in Dipeo to fund black students’ education.

Adam is passionate about giving back to society and driving job creation and transformation in South Africa. Adam is a founding trustee of the Ruta Sechaba Foundation, which was established in 2016. The foundation provides academic and sport-related scholarships, bursaries and awards to qualifying black learners at Curro and Curro-managed schools. Adam has served as the Charmain since inception over which time the foundation has had the privilege of providing over R60million in scholarships and bursaries creating over 1,800 opportunities to previously disadvantaged learners.

Nominated as a SAICA Top 35 under 35 in 2020, Adam has gained an immense amount of experience in both investments and business operations, he is focused on leveraging these skills acquired to continue building, transforming and empowering South Africa’s businesses of tomorrow.

Mathukana Mokoka
CA (SA)

CHAIRPERSON

Mathukana is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) SA with over 20 years of post-articles experience following completion of her articles at Arthur Andersen (KPMG). Her extensive career includes working as transactional advisor at Standard Bank (Leveraged and Acquisition Finance), Corporate Financier at Cadiz Financial Services, and Financial Analyst at Woolworths (Financial Analyst). 

Mathukana’s diverse work experience and financial acumen enables her to provide valuable input into strategy, financial management, and deal-making.

Mathukana has experience serving on both public and private sector boards and is presently an independent non-executive director of Sanlam Limited, Stadio Holdings, City Lodge Hotel Group, and Energy Partners, amongst others.

Mathukana is a member of the Institute of Directors and is currently working towards Chartered Director certification. 

As Chairperson of ThembiSA, Mathukana leverages her vast experience to provide key strategic input and oversight.
